ANSI/AIHA/ASSE Z10-2012: An overview of the Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems Standard
This article explores how the safety-related systems encourage employees’ process in business. The U.S. national congress for the first time used a national census to organize all ANSI approval on a new standard titled Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSMS). In 2005 ANSI/AIHA Z10 was considered a major development. The secretariat formed a committee to review Z10. Shortly after approval, secretariat was transferred to ASSE.
Validating and Identifying Health and Safety Performance Improvement Indicators: Experience of Using Delphi Technique
This article is based on a study of the Delphi technique. The discussion is about how successful and challenging quantative and qualitative approach is being measured in health and safety. The Delphi technique method is a constructivist or interpretive approach to knowledge. In the first round of Delphi, a questionnaire was developed to identify core elements and leading indicators characterizing H&S culture. The communication used for this experiment was emails. The study was used to take consensus in areas to unearth information to measure H&S performance for construction SMEs in South Africa.
Perspective of Consultants on Health and Safety in the Labour Act: A Study into Theory Practicals
This article is based on the health and safety performance in the construction industry. It also shows that the Labour Act 651 is addressing the health and safety standards to ensure workers are using safe and healthy conditions. By conducting a questionnaire for 200 architects, quantity surveyors, site and structural engineers, one hundred and twenty-one had a response rate of 61.5%. The findings indicated that clauses in the Labour Act 651 addresses appropriate health and safety standards are poorly adhered to.
